HI's History
(Revised 9Feb99 at 20:10)

Don Hawkins, Chairman & CEO of Hawkins Industries, Inc. formed HI Disposal Systems, LLC in November 1996 for the sole purpose of building the first commercial state-of-the-art, waste processing facility, utilizing PEAT's patented plasma heating or, as some call it, a melting system, that the U.S. EPA now recognizes as pyrolysis technology….. Please do not confuse this technology with incineration, it is not, that will be explained in another part of our presentation.

This new facility will be located on the upper Northwest side of Indianapolis, near the Pyramids just South of 465 and 96th Street (just south of the 26 mile marker). This facility will have the capacity to process approximately 34 to 36 tons of medical, pharmaceutical and chemical type waste products per day.

In HI's opinion, It's time, we as a community, as a State, and as a Nation, start taking our waste disposal problems more seriously. And, as you will read from the information in our presentation, you, we, the people at HI feel this technology is truly "the next generation" in waste disposal systems whose time has come.

The patented electrotechnology HI will be using at our facility offers any community the ability to be responsible for their own waste streams. This new concept in waste disposal will offer any community the ability to completely destroy most of its infectious and hazardous waste streams, completely, without having to worry about, any future damage, to their environment. The existing, old, outdated and gimmick technologies we are using today, only offer a short-term solution to our long-term waste disposal problems. The partnership that HI and PEAT have entered into will help solve some of these problems. And we hope, EPRI and the Indianapolis Power and Light Company will join us in promoting this technology. With everyone being environmentally conscious today, it is a win, win situation for all of us.

Mr. Hawkins was first introduced to this plasma technology or this concept of waste destruction over four years ago while living in New York City. In researching the project, he found several businesses and several individuals that have spent several years and several millions of dollars researching plasma energy technology for the metals recovery industry and the waste management industry. He found that, each group seemed to be heading in different directions, but still, seeking to accomplish the same goals. It was then, that he realized that a project of this magnitude was going to require a coordinated team effort, if this project was ever going to get past the research, development and testing stages. Or, from the drawing board, to the financial industry, to the waste management industry and finally, to the benefit of the consumer or the business industry. HI and PEAT are going to make this project become a reality in the waste management/disposal industry, for all to benefit.

In HI's opinion, this business could become a billion industry within the next 8 to 10 years, and HI now has the ability to get a sizeable piece of that market. I also feel that HI and PEAT are offering the best technology and marketing package available in the business and I know that we are ahead of the rest of the industry. - I like to say, we're the best and ahead of the rest… And we plan to take advantage of it…

Mr. Hawkins has spent the last two years, back home in Indiana, assembling all the right businesses and individuals around Indianapolis, and around the country, that could be brought together, to work as one unit, a "TEAM", if you will - to build this new and unique business opportunity that would enable these businesses and individuals to put their talents and knowledge together to accomplish a single goal. To build the first commercial facility for that would be financially beneficial for all parties concerned.

The TEAM members that Mr. Hawkins have chosen to help commercialize Plasma Energy Technology for the Waste Management Industry are listed in another section of our presentation. These team members are a group of highly experienced businesses and individuals that are at the top of their field; in electrotechnologies, marketing and management.

With the combined technical talents of; PEAT, and its Technicians, and Plasma Energy Corporation and their Technicians and HI's Consultants, HI has the expertise to build and fully develop and manage a complete medical and chemical waste destruction facility.

Once the first working facility is fully functional, HI will market the concept globally to communities and/or other businesses in the waste industry. It is important to stress the amount of time, money and effort that has already been invested into this project by the above Team members that HI has assembled. The Research and Development part of the project has been completed. Testing with prototypes have been completed. All technical information that is needed by HI to obtain all the necessary permits in Indiana is now available to HI. This available information is helping HI in obtaining all the necessary permits months ahead of schedule and more expediently.

Presently, there are no commercial medical waste processing facilities in Indiana. HI hopes to fill that gap.
